Initial experiences using plasma rich in growth factors to treat keratoneuralgia
Front Med (Lausanne). 2022 Aug 24;9:946828. Keratoneuralgia, a clinical diagnosis of sensitized corneal pain without visible ocular surface damage, generally has minimal response to conventional therapies. Causes include refractive surgery and chronic dry eye. We evaluated the efficacy of Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF), a novel treatment prepared using a commercially available kit, in patients with keratoneuralgia. A retrospective chart review identified patients who had the clinical diagnosis of keratoneuralgia and were treated with PRGF for at least 3 months from October 2015 to April 2020 at a single academic institution. Both objective eye exam findings and concurrent treatments were obtained at baseline, 3 months, and final visit (if available).

Potential of Plasma Rich in Growth Factors (PRGF-Endoret) to Enhance the Efficacy of Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Refractory Cases
Cureus. 2022 Jul 6;14(7):e26623. Nowadays, infertility problems affect a high percentage of couples. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF-Endoret, hereafter PRGF) as a promising coadjuvant therapy in assisted reproductive techniques and its possible role in implantation and pregnancy rates. This retrospective study included 36 PRGF cycles in 27 women with one of the following reproductive disorders: recurrent implantation failure (n = 16), repeated abortion (n = 8), and thin endometrium (n = 3).

Office-Based Intraosseous Infiltrations of PRGF in Knee Osteoarthritis: Description of Technique
Arthrosc Tech. 2022 Apr 25;11(5):e917-e921. The application of the counter-torque technique has been proposed as a conservative and atraumatic alternative for the explantation of nonmobile dental implants. The objective of this report is to assess the performance of this technique in a large number of patients.

Plasma rich in growth factors as treatment for a full-thickness macular hole due to macular telangiectasia type 2
Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol (Engl Ed). 2022 Apr;97(4):219-223. Full-thickness macular hole is a rare complication of macular telangiectasia type 2, and its treatment is still controversial. A patient with a full-thickness macular hole secondary to macular telangiectasia type 2 underwent vitreoretinal surgery with a plasma rich in growth factors membrane in the macular hole. At the sixth month of follow-up, anatomical and functional improvements were achieved, with no adverse effects.

Plasma Rich in Growth Factors for Persistent Macular Hole: A Pilot Study
Retin Cases Brief Rep. 2022 Mar 1;16(2):155-160. Persistent macular hole (PMH) is a challenge for retina surgeons. There are limited surgical techniques described achieving PMH closure. For more than a decade, techniques with blood derivatives have been described without optimal outcomes. The aim of this article is to report the usefulness of the plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) as a new way to improve PMH closure.

The inclusion of leukocytes into platelet rich plasma reduces scaffold stability and hinders extracellular matrix remodelling
Ann Anat. 2022 Feb:240:151853. doi: 10.1016/j.aanat.2021.151853. Scaffolds should have controllable degradation rate and allow cells to produce their own extracellular matrix. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a source of autologous growth factors and proteins embedded in a 3D fibrin scaffold. There is no consensus regarding the obtaining conditions and composition of PRPs.
