Relevance of Topographic Parameters on the Adhesion and Proliferation of Human Gingival Fibroblasts and Oral Bacterial Strains
Res Int. 2019 Feb 10;2019:8456342. Dental implantology allows replacement of failing teeth providing the patient with a general improvement of health. Unfortunately not all reconstructions succeed, as a consequence of the development of infections of bacterial origin on the implant surface. Surface topography is known to modulate a differential response to bacterial and mammalian cells but topographical measurements are often limited to vertical parameters.

Clinical Effectiveness of 6.5-mm-Long Implants to Support Two-Implant Fixed Prostheses in Premolar-Molar Region: The Influence of Immediate Loading and the Length of Splinting Implant
J Prosthodont. 2019 Feb;28(2):e688-e693. The purpose of this retrospective clinical study was to assess the influence of immediate loading and lengths of splinted implants on the clinical effectiveness of 6.5-mm-long implants supporting two-implant fixed prostheses in the premolar-molar regions.

Frequency of Technical Complications in Fixed Implant Prosthesis: The Effect of Prosthesis Screw Emergence Correction by Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing
J Oral Implantol. 2018 Dec;44(6):427-431. Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology permits the angular correction of screw emergence into the prosthesis; however, there is lack of controlled clinical studies that assess the frequency of technical complications in angled screw channel restorations. This controlled clinical study was designed to assess technical incidences in angled screw channel restorations. Patients who underwent placement of implant prosthesis between November 2014 and December 2015 were screened.

Marginal Bone Loss Around Short Dental Implants Restored at Implant Level and with Transmucosal Abutment: A Retrospective Study
Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants. 2018 Nov/Dec;33(6):1362-1367. This study evaluated the effect of the level of the prosthetic construction on the marginal bone stability around extra-short implants (≤ 6.5 mm in length) supporting a fixed prosthesis.

Prognosis of Dental Implants Immediately Placed in Sockets Affected by Peri-implantitis: A Retrospective Pilot Study
Int J Periodontics Restorative Dent. 2017 Sep/Oct;37(5):713-719. The aim of this study was to describe a protocol and analyze the outcomes of immediate replacement of failed implants due to peri-implantitis. A total of 17 patients (mean age: 58 ± 10 years) had 22 failed implants that were immediately replaced.
Minimizing the mandibular advancement in an oral appliance for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea
Sleep Med. 2017 Jun:34:226-231. In the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with an oral appliance (OA), there is no gold standard method to fine-tune the mandibular advancement. This study aimed to analyze the effect of gradual increment of mandibular advancement on the evolution of the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI).

Transcrestal Sinus Floor Augmentation by Sequential Drilling and the Use of Plasma Rich in Growth Factors
Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants. 2017 May/June;32(3):e167–e173. There is a paucity of studies that evaluate the treatment outcomes of transcrestal sinus elevation performed without using osteotomes. This study aims to evaluate the 4-year survival of short dental implants placed following transcrestal sinus elevation performed with a frontal cutting drill and to measure the marginal bone stability.

Validation of a new domiciliary diagnosis device for automatic diagnosis of patients with clinical suspicion of OSA
Respirology. 2017 Feb;22(2):378-385. Obstructive sleep apnoea is a prevalent and considerably underdiagnosed disease. The development of cost-effective, home-based, automatic diagnostic devices to improve the diagnosis accessibility is therefore essential.

Long-term Outcomes of Immediate Loading of Short Implants: A Controlled Retrospective Cohort Study
Int J Oral Maxillofac Implants. 2016 Nov/Dec;31(6):1360-1366. Short implants (≤ 8.5 mm in length) have presented predictable outcomes. However, there is paucity in the long-term evaluation of immediate loading of short implants. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of the immediate loading of short implants on treatment outcomes.
